Below is information pertaining to enrollment into N.A.C.S. This includes information about the enrollment process, the enrollment standards, and termination of enrollment.
- Enrollment Process
- Parent(s) must complete a faculty/parent application form. Submission of this form constitutes your agreement to accept and comply with these enrollment requirements (enrollment process, enrollment standards, and enrollment termination).
- Parents must complete a student application form for each child enrolled in N.A.C.S.
- Faculty must be active, faithful members of the church of Christ. The evangelist or an elder of the congregation where the parents are members must submit a completed reference form indicating that the parents are active members in good standing. You should provide for them the form and a stamped envelope address to N.A.C.S.
- All parents must sign a disclaimer statement releasing Mastin Lake Road church of Christ/N.A.C.S. and any representative of the church/school from responsibility and liability for the education of their children. Only the parents are liable for the education of their children.
- When possible, the required application, reference, and disclaimer forms should be completed in full and submitted to N.A.C.S. for approval at least four weeks prior to the beginning of the public school year.
- The prospective family (with children) should meet with the administrators for an interview/orientation.
- Families participating with N.A.C.S. should consider their legal defense options with regard to their home school status. Membership in H.S.L.D.A. is NOT required for enrollment with N.A.C.S. Each family is responsible for their own legal defense with regard to their home school status. Options include, but are not limited to, securing your own legal council, membership in H.S.L.D.A., or checking with the Rutherford Institute.
- An annual enrollment fee of $25.00 per family is required to cover school expenses and includes the use of equipment (e.g. copy machine, lamination machine, etc.), Bible resource materials belonging to Mastin Lake Road church of Christ and other limited equipment available from the school. This privilege is limited to faculty and limited to school purposes. Use of the copier and laminator is limited to the amount the enrollment fee will provide to cover this purpose. Use beyond this amount will require a fee of $.05 per copy and $.05 per foot of lamination used. A one-time graduation fee of $20.00 is required for each student prior to graduation. The annual fee, graduation fee, and equipment fees are subject to change from year to year. Deposit of your check or cash for the enrollment does NOT constitute acceptance of enrollment into N.A.C.S. N.A.C.S. is a non-profit ministry of the Mastin Lake Road church of Christ.
- When enrollment in N.A.C.S. is complete, the parent/teacher must send a written request for each student's records from his previous school.
- The church School Enrollment Form, that confirms each student's enrollment in N.A.C.S., is required by Alabama Code 16-28-7. Parts I and III must be completed. You must provide the name and address of your local superintendent. The address for the superintendent, or the school DISTRICT (city or county), is needed, not the address of the particular school your child would otherwise attend. N.A.C.S. will complete part II and send the original to the local Superintendent's office. N.A.C.S. will keep one copy on file, and the parents will receive one copy for their files. N.A.C.S. will NOT notify the Superintendent's office until all enrollment process requirements are completed and submitted. Some school districts may require that the parent obtains a form directly from the school district office and submit a completed form directly to that office.
There is a checklist available for download. If you use it, you will be sure that you have completed all the steps necessary to be properly enrolled in N.A.C.S. It is recommended that you keep the checklist until you receive your official notice of acceptance.
